Flipping Flip : Living nor dead.

"Machine-powered facsimiles of life. The uncanny erupts in our encounter with an undecided being who occupies a state between life and death, whether a life-like machine or a ghost.

Fontanive’s artworks seem strangely possessed, producing curiously moving animals that are neither living nor dead, or creating ghostly systems which seem to float mid-air and follow a pace and logic of their own."

"A jack of all trades"

Jen Mussari
- a hilarious and entertaining lettering & illustration designer - a "Jack of all trades. Master of a couple". She is light-hearted and to the point -
an element that I am joyfully liking more and more.... a no frills type of girl!

Check out her section on 'The Internet' ... lots of meaningless gifs but they are actually quite weird and wonderful. Totally unnecessary but why the hell not ...

You got me Tumbling ...

Tumblr Tumblr Tumblr ....
What is it with Tumblr ?

It is everywhere ...
Just recently - I am seeing an ever more presence of Tumblr sites that encourage, share and feed of each other. They pool together the wonders of our visual world for people with wondering eyes, hungry appetites for design and a general outlook on all things beautiful.

From dressed up dogs, finger licking food, obscure landscapes, footwear, clothing, art to beautiful (naked) women, they complete a visual diary on mass ... a moment shared and loved.

A moment shared.
A moment lived.
A moment felt.

A process that I am being absorbed by and it's taking me by storm.
And here are my i { h e a r t } No. # blogs that I want to share with you.

CLASE BCN

Clase BCN
- is a graphic design and visual communication studio based in Barcelona. Made up of a team of 10 multi-disciplinary designers, they have a large and popular clientele list. Working across fashion, editorial, communication and press - their work is both highly skilled and delightful!

Nothing is left spared - their attention to detail including typography, styling, composition and element of surprise is beautifully articulated and displayed. With no particular one-trick style, they take on each project with individual innovation - which allows their creative process to excel the norm and is specific for each design. A thoughtful element that completes the design process from start to finish of each project!

Aestetic Research

Fabrice Le Nezet - is an artist/director/art director who has created a project based on sculpture, fashion, colour and toy design.

'Aesthetic Research' - a Women's Spring/Summer photo series combines a stunning, fresh palette with witty silhouettes representing the female body. I love his subtle charm - by using architecture combined with sculpture he creates a stunning array of form and symmetrical lines.

FAT or Fiction

Steve Jobs once said "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" and I am proud to celebrate this early advertising campaign with a new food creation ~ FAT or Fiction!

This stunningly simple creation - guides the consumer through their most delicious treats - beautifully breaking down the nutritional information, so we can see in full glory the hidden calories, fats and sugars. What may worry most people - and what now covers all of our food packaging is the health impact of what we consume. However, most of this packaging information lacks the engaging aspect of informing consumers what's really in their food!

But now - FAT or Fiction has decoded this information in the most artistic & decorative manner. Anna Brooks, Christina Winkles and David Rosser are the creators behind this magical creation - a collaboration of design, technology and teaching.

I have included some images but I would highly recommend visiting the site and exploring for yourself, the photography and composition of how you interact is something I've not seen before - as information graphics go there is plenty out there but for me this is a perfect example of information broken down, applied and consumer friendly. With a simple well designed interface that is uber mouth-watering !!

Because We Can - The Glue Society

Watch and Learn - The Glue Society.
"Because We Can" is their staple message - a powerful document of how they work and why they work. And the most engaging message I reckon! As a creative collective they are based in Sydney and New York - they include writers, broadcasters, film direction, graphic design ... and much more.

The projects they work on are exclusive and completely unique and individual - from melting ice creams vans to huge pigeons with a naked man on top to a 42ft arch made up of plastic chairs - they are different to say the least.

But they are exciting and challenging - something which I admire!
Check their work out here.

Borja Bonaque

Borja Bonaque is a Spanish Illustrator and Designer - specialising in creating visual atmospheres, his body of work is both elegant and refined - a detail sometimes overlooked.

His inspiration of pure lines and geometric shapes is evident in his work - but this creates a fresh and appealing look that defines his style and genre.

I love his 'Animal Agency' Business cards - such beautiful and skilled illustrations combined with complimentary type and colour scheme. It creates more than just a look and feel - it creates personality, a recognisable style for the agency.

He has worked for some big agencies and its a delight to recognise talent!
Check his website out here.
